Lauréats 2012

Léa MOULIN | Manale EL KHARBILI

Greentech Awards

The scientific committee selected the « Best Junior Scientist 2012 » among the nine young researchers preparing a PhD or are working in post-PhD, nominated and invited to present their results to scientists and industrials coming from the dermatology and cosmetic worlds.

The grant of €15,000 awarded Ms Manale EL KHARBILI, a remarkable young and expert, working at the CGPMC (Centre de Génétique et de Physiologie Moléculaire et Cellulaire – Genetic and Cellular-Molecular Physiology Centre) in Université Lyon 1.

Manale EL KHARBILI:

» Tetraspanin 8 promotes melanoma invasion by regulating integrin-mediated cellumatrix anchorage through MEK/ERK pathway « .

Also, all participants have voted and selected the “Best SPIM poster 2012”, among all posters exhibited during the 3rd SPIM and presenting a particular topic related to research in skin physiology. Léa MOULIN‘s poster (IBCP Lyon – Institut de Biologie et Chimie des Protéines – Institute of Biology and Chemistry of Proteins) was selected by all participants and received the grant of €4,000.

Léa MOULIN:

» Loxl1 is hypermethylated in aged dermal fibroblasts by a DNA methyl transferase dependant complex « .

Topics

– Microflora and immunity
– Aging
– Epidermal dynamics

Entertainment

The first day was fulfilled with various lectures from experts of skin physiology and young scientists, participating in the GREENTECH awards. To relax all participants, after the last sessions, everybody enjoyed an exposition of Peter KLASEN, a famous german artist who dedicated an artwork book to each participant.
Peter KLASEN is a painter, photographer and sculptor working in the field of industry. His images are a creative mixture of different techniques of composition and photography, resulting in a singular and very interesting artwork. Peter KLASEN creates particularly canvases painted with acrylic applied with an airbrush that incorporate collages of objects, photographs and documents.

Finally, the night program continued with a cocktail followed by the gala dinner in a prestigious restaurant of Vichy.
